Claude Team vs Enterprise vs Pro: Which Plan Suits a 10 to 200 Person Company?

Skein30 October 20267 min read

For most businesses of 10 to 150 people, Claude's Team plan is the right choice: company accounts, central billing, single sign-on, admin controls and commercial data terms. Enterprise suits organisations that need role-based access, audit logs, custom data retention and similar controls. Pro is an individual plan and is not designed for company data.

Key takeaways

  • Pro is for individuals; Team is for organisations of 2 to 150; Enterprise is for larger or more regulated organisations.
  • According to Anthropic's pricing page in October 2026, a Team standard seat cost USD 20 a month billed annually and an Enterprise seat USD 20 a month billed annually plus usage.
  • According to Anthropic, its 2025 consumer training changes do not apply to commercial plans, which include Team and Enterprise.
  • The deciding factors are usually headcount, the admin and compliance controls you need, and how usage is billed.
  • Prices and features change often, so date every comparison and check the current page.

Which Claude plan suits a growing business?

The Team plan suits most growing businesses. Anthropic describes it as for teams of 2 to 150, and it adds the controls a company needs: central billing, single sign-on, connector admin controls and commercial data terms. Enterprise becomes worthwhile when security, compliance or scale requirements go beyond what Team offers.

Here is how the three compared on Anthropic's pricing page in October 2026. Always check the live page before deciding.

What does Claude Pro include, and why isn't it for teams?

Pro is an individual subscription with more usage than the free plan and access to features such as Projects and Claude Code. It runs under Anthropic's consumer terms, has no central administration, and belongs to the individual, so it is not designed for company data or team use.

The data terms are the main reason. In August 2025, Anthropic updated its consumer terms so Free, Pro and Max users choose whether their chats and coding sessions are used to improve Claude. According to Anthropic, those who allow it have data retained for five years, against 30 days for those who do not. A business cannot manage those settings across staff on personal Pro accounts.

There is a knowledge reason too. Whatever someone builds in a personal account, such as projects, prompts and memory, leaves when they do.

What does the Claude Team plan add?

Team adds what an organisation needs to run AI as a company tool rather than a personal one. That means company-owned accounts, central billing, single sign-on, connector controls, shared projects and commercial data terms. Anthropic's pricing page lists "no training on your content by default" for Team.

Two seat types let a business match cost to use. Most staff can use standard seats. Heavier users, such as people running long analyses or agentic work, can have premium seats with more usage. According to Anthropic's pricing page in October 2026, premium seats provide five times the usage of a standard seat.

Shared projects are the practical win. On Team and Enterprise, projects can be shared with colleagues, so a client's brief and files are set up once for everyone working on that account.

When do you need Claude Enterprise?

Consider Enterprise when you need controls beyond Team. Examples include role-based access, automated provisioning through SCIM, audit logs, a compliance API, custom retention, IP allowlisting and spend limits. These matter most for larger organisations and regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare and government work.

Enterprise is billed differently. According to Anthropic's pricing page in October 2026, it lists USD 20 a seat a month billed annually with a 20-seat minimum, and usage billed separately at API rates. That model can suit organisations with uneven usage, but it makes monitoring consumption more important.

How do you decide between Claude Team and Enterprise?

Start with Team unless you have a specific requirement it cannot meet. Move to Enterprise when compliance, audit, identity management or scale demands it. Whatever the plan, the bigger decision is what Claude knows about your business, because the plan sets the controls but not the quality of the work.

A quick decision guide:

  1. Fewer than about 20 people and no special compliance needs: Team.
  2. 20 to 150 people with standard needs: Team, with premium seats for heavy users.
  3. Audit logs, role-based access or custom retention required: Enterprise.
  4. More than 150 people: Enterprise.

Moving staff across is its own task; the checklist for moving to business plans covers it. In Australia, the privacy regulator recommends not entering personal information into publicly available AI tools, which is another reason to get the plan decision right.

Skein helps leadership teams choose the plan, set the rules and roll it out; the AI leadership page covers those decisions. That suits a business currently on a mix of personal accounts. A business already on Team may only need the shared knowledge and skills set up properly.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Claude Team and Enterprise?

Team is for organisations of 2 to 150 people, with central billing, single sign-on, admin controls and commercial data terms. Enterprise adds controls such as role-based access, SCIM provisioning, audit logs, custom data retention and IP allowlisting, with a 20-seat minimum and usage billed at API rates.

How much does Claude Team cost?

According to Anthropic's pricing page in October 2026, a Team standard seat cost USD 20 a month billed annually or USD 25 billed monthly, and a premium seat USD 100 or USD 125. Prices change, so check Anthropic's current pricing page before budgeting.

Can a business use Claude Pro accounts?

It is not advisable. Pro is an individual plan under consumer terms, with no central administration, and whatever staff build there belongs to their personal accounts. Anthropic's commercial plans, Team and Enterprise, are designed for company use and run under separate commercial terms.

Does Claude Team train on our data?

Anthropic's pricing page lists no training on your content by default for Team. Its August 2025 consumer terms update, which gave Free, Pro and Max users a choice about training, explicitly does not apply to services under its Commercial Terms, including Team and Enterprise.

When should a company upgrade to Claude Enterprise?

When it needs controls Team does not offer, such as audit logs, role-based access, automated provisioning, custom data retention or IP allowlisting, or when it grows beyond about 150 people. Regulated sectors often need Enterprise earlier because of compliance requirements.
